Terms & legal

The terms that govern your use of Claude CMS, and how we handle data. Please read these carefully — by using Claude CMS you agree to them.

Last updated: 23 June 2026

Claude CMS is owned and operated by Receptive Limited ("Receptive", "we", "us", "our"), a company registered in England and Wales. "You" means the individual or entity that purchases, installs, or uses Claude CMS (the "Software"). "Claude CMS" or the "Software" means the Claude CMS application, installer, connector, and related files and services we provide.

"Claude" and the Claude AI models are products of Anthropic, PBC, and are not owned, operated, or controlled by Receptive. Receptive is not affiliated with or endorsed by Anthropic.

Terms & Conditions

1. Agreement to terms

By purchasing, downloading, installing, connecting, or using Claude CMS, you agree to be bound by these terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Software. If you use Claude CMS on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you have authority to bind that organisation to these terms.

2. Licence

Subject to your active subscription and these terms, Receptive grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use one instance of Claude CMS per valid licence key, on hosting you control, for your own websites. You must not resell, sublicense, redistribute, or share the Software or your licence key, nor remove or obscure any proprietary notices.

3. Self-installation and your responsibility

Claude CMS is a self-hosted, self-operated tool. You install it, you run it on your own hosting, and you build, deploy, and operate your own websites using it. You do so entirely at your own risk. You are solely responsible for:

Claude CMS operates by allowing an AI model to make live changes to your site at your instruction. AI output can be incorrect, incomplete, or unexpected. You accept this risk and are responsible for supervising and verifying all output. Receptive is not responsible for any content, code, or change produced through the Software.

4. Acceptable use

You must not use Claude CMS to build, host, or distribute anything unlawful, infringing, harmful, deceptive, or that breaches the rights of others, nor to circumvent the licensing system, interfere with the connector, or attempt to access systems or data you are not authorised to access. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of this section.

5. Fees, subscription, cancellation and refunds

Claude CMS is provided on a subscription or one-off basis as described at the point of purchase. Unless stated otherwise, subscriptions renew automatically at the start of each billing period until cancelled.

You may cancel your subscription at any time by giving 30 days' written notice via our contact form. Your subscription and billing continue throughout the 30-day notice period, and any payment falling due within that period remains payable. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the notice period.

On cancellation — or if a subscription lapses, is unpaid, or is otherwise terminated — the connector stops authenticating against our licensing system and Claude will no longer be able to manage your site. Your website files, database, and content remain on your own hosting and your website continues to operate as normal; you simply lose the ability to manage it through Claude. You can re-subscribe at any time to restore connector access.

Fees are non-refundable except where required by law or expressly stated in writing, including fees already paid and fees that fall due during the notice period. We may change fees with effect from a renewal; we will give reasonable notice of any change before it takes effect, and you may cancel if you do not accept it. You are responsible for any third-party costs (hosting, domains, your Claude/Anthropic subscription, payment processor fees).

6. Third-party services

Claude CMS depends on and interoperates with third-party services we do not control, including Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI (ChatGPT), your web host, your database provider, email/SMTP providers, and payment processors such as Stripe. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. Receptive is not liable for the availability, performance, acts, or omissions of any third party, or for any changes they make that affect the Software.

7. Intellectual property

Receptive and its licensors own all rights in the Software itself. You own the content and websites you create. These terms do not transfer ownership of the Software to you. Any feedback you provide may be used by us without restriction or obligation.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The Software is provided "as is" and "as available", with all faults and without warranty of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Receptive disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, and any warranty that the Software will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that any output, change, or result will meet your requirements. No advice or information obtained from Receptive or the Software creates any warranty not expressly stated here.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Receptive (and its directors, employees, and suppliers) will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, business, or websites, downtime, or cost of substitute services, arising out of or relating to the Software or these terms, however caused and on any theory of liability, even if advised of the possibility of such damage.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Receptive's total aggregate liability for all claims arising out of or relating to the Software or these terms will not exceed the total fees you paid to Receptive for the Software in the three (3) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

10. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Receptive against all claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from or relating to your use of the Software, the websites or content you create with it, your breach of these terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Software at any time. We may suspend or terminate your licence if you breach these terms or your subscription ends. On termination, the licence granted to you ends and you must stop using the Software. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including 3, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 13) survive.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the Software after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

13. Governing law

These terms and any dispute arising out of them are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer protections available to you in your country of residence.

Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Receptive Limited handles personal data in connection with Claude CMS. For data protection purposes, Receptive is the data controller of the limited account and operational data described below. For any websites and databases you build and host with Claude CMS, you are the data controller of that data — it resides on your own hosting, under your control, and Receptive does not operate or access it except where you specifically ask us to provide support.

14. What we collect

15. How and why we use it

We use this data to provide and authenticate the Software, process payments and subscriptions, provide support, prevent misuse, comply with legal obligations, and communicate with you about your account. Our legal bases under UK GDPR are performance of a contract, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Software, and compliance with legal obligations.

16. Sharing

We share data only with service providers who help us operate (such as our payment processor, hosting, and email providers), and where required by law. We do not sell your personal data. Note that operating Claude CMS through an AI assistant necessarily involves sending the instructions and site data you choose to that assistant's provider — Anthropic (Claude) or OpenAI (ChatGPT) — in order for the assistant to function; that processing is governed by that provider's terms and privacy policy and is outside Receptive's control. See section 21 for more detail on AI-assistant connectors.

17. Google account data

If you choose to connect a Google account to Claude CMS, we request read-only access to your Google Analytics reporting data (the analytics.readonly scope). We use this data solely to analyse the performance of the website property you connect and to generate website improvement and content recommendations, shown back to you within the product. Connecting a Google account is optional, and you are asked to grant this access explicitly through Google's consent screen.

Claude CMS's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

18. Retention

We keep account, billing, and licence data for as long as your account is active and as required for legal, accounting, and fraud-prevention purposes, after which it is deleted or anonymised.

19. Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, object to or restrict certain processing, and request portability. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

20. Cookies and international transfers

This website does not use analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking cookies, and therefore does not display a cookie consent banner. It sets a single first-party cookie, xp_mode, which simply remembers whether you chose the "Business" or "Developer" content view. It holds no personal or tracking data, is never shared with anyone, and the site works normally without it — you can clear or block it in your browser at any time.

This site also loads fonts from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com). This sets no cookies, but your IP address is necessarily sent to Google in order to deliver the fonts; that processing is governed by Google's own privacy policy.

Where personal data is transferred outside the UK/EEA (for example to service providers), we rely on appropriate safeguards as required by law.

21. Using Swarm and AI assistants (ChatGPT, Claude, and other connectors)

Claude CMS can be connected to AI assistants — including OpenAI's ChatGPT (through our “Swarm” app and connector) and Anthropic's Claude — via our connector server, so you can manage your sites by chatting. When you use a connector:

We do not sell any of this data, and we use it only to provide and secure the connector service you have asked for.

22. Contact

For any questions about these terms or this privacy policy, or to exercise your data rights, contact Receptive Limited via our contact form.
