Most website arrangements make you choose. Either you hand everything to an agency and wait a week for a price change, or you get handed a login and left to work it out. Managed is meant to sit between the two.
We take on the parts that genuinely need a developer — designing and building the site, provisioning the hosting, installing the CMS, wiring the connector, keeping it patched and online. Then we give you Claude access to your own site, so the day-to-day changes are a conversation rather than a support ticket. When something is beyond a conversation, you ask us and we do it.

The build
We design and build your site from scratch, or rebuild what you have. Pages, structure, styling, forms, images and copy laid out properly.
Hosting and upkeep
Managed hosting, SSL, backups and updates. If it breaks, it is ours to fix, and you will usually hear it from us first.
Claude access
Your own connection to your site, so you can make changes by asking. Included in the plan — there is no separate AI bill to worry about.
Ongoing changes
New pages, edits, seasonal updates, a fresh section for a new service. You ask, we do it, usually within two working days.
Advice is included, not extra
You are not buying a pair of hands. The people who build and run your site are the people you talk to, and thinking the problem through with you is part of the plan — not a separate line on an invoice, and not something you have to justify asking for.
Bring us the idea while it is still half-formed. We will tell you what it would take, what it is likely to achieve, and whether there is a smaller version that gets you most of the way there for a fraction of the effort. If we think you are about to spend money on the wrong thing, you will hear that too.
Before you build
Work out what a page or a feature actually needs to do, and what it does not. Most requests get smaller, cheaper and better after a ten-minute conversation.

Search, site structure, and how your business reads to the AI assistants that increasingly answer on your behalf. Practical direction on what to publish next, not a monthly report nobody opens.
Technical judgement
Which system to connect to, what will buckle under real traffic, what a migration genuinely costs. We build and run our own platforms, so we have usually made the mistake already.
An honest no
Some ideas are not worth the money, and some are worth far more than you were going to spend. We would rather say so than quietly bill for either.
In practice: scoping and architecture calls, data-model and integration review, indexing and Core Web Vitals triage, email deliverability, and a second opinion on anything you are building elsewhere that has to talk to this site.
If it does not exist yet, we build it — and test it first
Sooner or later a website needs something that is not a page. A booking form that knows your availability. A quote calculator. A members-only area. A product filter, a staff directory, a dashboard, a link into whatever system you already run the business on. That is development work, and it is the part we enjoy.
The half of that sentence that matters is and test it first. Every managed site comes with a test space alongside the live one — a full second copy of your site on its own address, with its own database. New functionality is built and proven there. Your live site is never where we find out whether something works.
Scoped first
We agree what it does, what it deliberately does not do, and what finished looks like — before a line of code is written.
Built on your test space
Separate address, separate database, same site. Nothing half-built is ever visible to your customers, and nothing experimental touches your live data.
Tested properly
Real submissions, awkward inputs, phone and desktop. Anything touching payments is run end to end in test mode before it is allowed near a real card.
Released with a way back
Then it goes live on your domain. Every file we change is backed up before it is written, so if something surprises us we can put it back in minutes, not days.
Everyday content still goes straight to live — that is the whole point of having Claude access. It is the code that gets the careful treatment.
The test space is a full second installation on its own subdomain and database, not the production database behind a feature flag. Releases are file-level with an automatic pre-write backup and one-call rollback; PHP is syntax-checked before it is written to disk. Schema changes are applied and exercised on the test database first, then replayed on release.
One thing at a time, done properly
We work on one active request at a time per site. Send as many as you like — they queue, and we work through them in order, or in whatever order you tell us matters most.
That is deliberate. It is how we can promise that the thing you asked for today is actually being worked on, rather than sitting fourth in a pile while everything moves slowly at once. Most changes are done within two working days. If something will take longer, we tell you before we start, not after.
Practically: requests are handled serially per site so that a change is either queued or in progress, never half-applied. Anything touching payments, DNS or the live database is staged and verified before it goes near production.
Changes are included. Projects are quoted.
We would rather be straight about this than surprise you with an invoice. Running and improving your website is what the plan is for. Building a second thing is a different job, and we will price it before we start.
Included as a change
New pages and sections. Copy and image updates. Design tweaks. Forms. Blog and news posts. SEO work. Custom features built on your site. Fixing anything that breaks. Consultancy whenever you want it.
Quoted as a project
A second website. A full rebrand or redesign. An online shop. Migrating a large existing site. Integrations with heavyweight external systems. Bespoke software that runs beyond your website.
Custom functionality follows the same logic. A feature built on your website — a booking form, a calculator, a members area, a filter — is a change. A separate system that merely talks to your website is a project.
If you are not sure which side something falls on, ask. We will tell you honestly, and if it is borderline we will usually just do it.
Generous, but not infinite
The plan runs on a fair-use basis, which in practice means it is sized for one business running one website well. Claude access is included and we do not meter your ordinary use of it — but it is intended for working on your own site, not for bulk content generation or automated workloads.
Hosting is for a normal website too: pages, images and site assets rather than video libraries, media archives or file distribution. If you need video hosting, that is available as an add-on.
If your usage ever moves outside this, nothing gets switched off without warning. We will talk to you, explain what we are seeing, and work out the right plan for it together.
The things people ask
Can I still edit the site myself?
Yes — that is the point of the Claude access. You can make changes yourself whenever you like, and hand the bigger things to us. Nothing you do locks us out, and nothing we do locks you out.
What if I ask for something and change my mind?
Fine. Tell us before it is finished and we will stop. Tell us after and we will change it — that is an ordinary change like any other.
Do I own the website?
Yes. It is your site, your domain and your content. If you ever leave, you take it with you and we will help you move it.
How quickly do things get done?
Most changes within two working days. Urgent problems — the site being down, checkout failing — come first and are dealt with straight away.
How long does something custom take?
Longer than two working days, and we will tell you how much longer before we start. A form or a calculator is usually days; something with logins, payments or another system at the far end is usually weeks. You see it working on your test space before it goes anywhere near your live site.
Is there a contract?
It is a monthly subscription with 30 days' notice. Full terms are on the legal page.
