01 The workshop, in figures
VOLTA is four people above a former glove factory on Willow Vale. We build in batches of ninety, we test every module for eight hours on the bench, and we sign the back of the panel.
Every one bench-tested, tuned and burned in for eight hours before it is boxed.
Measured at 21 °C after an eight-minute warm-up, across the full eight-octave range.
Stock modules leave the bench within two working days. Batch builds have a stated date.

02 The bench · a real signal chain
Five VOLTA modules, wired the way they would be on your desk. Drag a knob or nudge it with the arrow keys; click one jack, then another, to run a cable. The waveform underneath is solved sample by sample from whatever you build — nothing is pre-rendered.

03 The range · eleven modules
Prices include VAT and a five-year warranty. Current draw is measured at the bus board with the module doing its worst, not idling. Adding one here drops it straight into the planner below.
04 Rack planner · HP and current
The two questions that ruin a first rack. Pick a case, add modules, and watch the horizontal pitch and the three supply rails fill up. We hold 20 % back on every rail — a PSU run at its limit is a PSU that hums.

05 Panels · boards · warranty
Thin panels flex when you pull a cable, and flex is what cracks a jack solder joint. Ours are 2 mm 6082-T6, bead-blasted, anodised black, then screen-printed in two-part epoxy ink and cured for forty minutes.
Everything on the front of a VOLTA module is there because a hand touches it. Everything behind it is there because a hand will one day have to fix it.

07 In other people's racks
The MERIDIAN is the first VCO I have owned that I stopped re-tuning between takes. Eight minutes from cold and it simply stays where I left it, which is the whole argument for analogue in the first place.
I tour with the skiff in hand luggage. Two years, ninety-odd shows, one loose nut — and they sent me the schematic and a torque figure rather than an RMA form. That told me everything.
We put a VOLTA rack in front of fourteen-year-olds who had never seen a patch cable. By the end of the afternoon they were arguing about filter resonance. The panels survived, too.
08 Before you commit

The signal path in MERIDIAN, STRATA, GATE, DRIFT, TERMINUS, LATTICE, THRESHOLD and MOOR is entirely analogue — discrete transistors, through-hole op-amps and a matched pair on the exponential converter. CORTEX and HALO use a microcontroller, because a sequencer without memory is a metronome and a reverb without a DSP is a spring tank. Both say so on the panel and in the spec table.
Noise, mostly. The browser model solves the same topology as the hardware — PolyBLEP saw and pulse, a four-pole ladder with the same feedback law, a linear ADSR — but it runs at exactly 48 kHz with nothing but a token noise floor to seed the filter. The real MERIDIAN sits at about −96 dBFS of hiss, the ladder saturates a little earlier than the model, and both drift with the room. The model's ladder also stops self-oscillating above about 2.6 kHz, where four one-pole stages run out of phase shift; the hardware sings across the whole range. Consider it a well-behaved sibling.
Yes. Everything is standard Eurorack: 3.5 mm mono jacks, ±12 V from a 16-pin bus board with the red stripe to −12 V, 1 V per octave over eight octaves, 10 V gates that trigger on anything above 1.6 V. Our modules ship with keyed connectors so a reversed ribbon does nothing at all, which is more than can be said for the rest of the format.
It is the measured worst case, not the datasheet sum: every LED lit, every output shorted, the sequencer running. Real-world draw is typically 15–25 % lower. The planner still holds 20 % back on each rail before it turns red, so if it says the rack is fine, it is fine.
Email us with the serial from the back of the panel. Inside five years we repair or replace free, including the postage both ways within the UK. Outside five years we still repair — it is £45 plus parts, whatever the fault. We have never scrapped a module and we have no plans to start.
DRIFT, LATTICE, THRESHOLD and MOOR are available as kits at roughly 40 % off the built price, with a printed build guide and a populated-board photo at every stage. They are all through-hole and none needs a scope to calibrate. MERIDIAN and STRATA are built-only: the tuning rig costs more than the module.
